GOLDIE INTERVIEW 9th March 1998 Excerpt from a GOLDIE interview: DAVID BOWIE was perhaps a lot easier to convince to go into the studio with Goldie. In fact, if the Thin White Duke's recent insatiable thirst for all things junglist are anything to go by, it's fair to say that he probably jumped at the chance to collaborate. It's also fair to say that he would have been a lot happier had the track been a breakbeat arrangement. In fact, Truth is a ballad without beats. However, the Bowie track is a lot more significant than simply being a collision between two of the most striking icons of their respective generations. Truth was recorded at Trident Studios in Soho, the studio where Ziggy Stardust was recorded and more recently home of Rob Playford and his Moving Shadow imprint. Working with Bowie was just insane, man, laughs Goldie. I was in the control room and he was in the room just standing there in front of the mic, chain-smoking cigarettes. So I was basically directing him, telling him what I could see in my head. He was great, totally tuned in. He's the other side of the glass and I'm telling him what to do. I tell you what, I was laughing my bollocks off, man. I mean, David Bowie being told what to do by me!
