Building A Nation
by Nevada Kerr
Extravagant America
You took my will by storm
Speed conceals your fading star
A child of hope deformed
Cold perfection ripens
Like a superhuman flaw
This paragon of virtue
A fable from afar
Innocence can hurt you
Defeated foes strike back
Danger has no curfew
Virgin white turns black
Urbanite and rustic peer
Misjudge the still small voice
Defer to Wall Street bull and bear
When voting precludes choice
An undisclosed tribunal
The boasting giant's friend
The freedom fighter's good intentions
Big business till the end
