Call To Glory
by Nevada Kerr
He opens for eternity
Begs for God's consent
Mumbles amidst cheerful friends
A minstrel American tune
Cursed by heaven by day
He coddles the night with his prayers
In search of glad tidings
Communion winds carry his murmurs
Innovative war elegies
Death's doorman offers him asylum
From the angelic sponsor
With the roving ghost eyes
But it's her he came to see
She demands his flesh
When he slips inside her
He slips through locked doors
Into the heart of the sun
