DROUGHT
by Nevada Kerr
A sultry trolling trull
Cursory and duly dull
Trading irrigated fields
For dusty cloaks and veils
Takes a bit of humble pie
To the tall talk crow
Coming down off the tide
Drying up below
For the third time down
Squeezing water from a stone
In the muffled monotone
Of a mummy scraping bone
Out of air and ozone
In a dreary outsourced sky
Outcries in the free zone
Are in very short supply
In a dribbling lovelorn croon
Under drunk and bloody moon
She bends to purge the ground
Shriveling like a prune
