MONUMENTS
by Nevada Kerr
Molten rock chronicles
Artillery remains
Rudimentary particles
Of tactical disdain
Cannon fodder memories
Of the barbarous and vain
Blow them up, wipe them out
Blot them out for good
Every inch, root and branch
I can't stand where they stood
Friendly fire footprints
Frozen in the rain
An extended play deficit
Mortgaging my pain
A parody of graven forms
Playing havoc with my brain
Premises and promises
That surely leave a stain
Pedestal impediments
Shouldering the blame
Cross them out, take them back
Silent tombs resound
In little less than nothing flat
Raze them to the ground
