GRATITUDE

I've been avoiding you so long
And I'm not even sure why
I was content with my contention
But now my soul is wise

I feel so much better
So at ease and so at home
I think that I was bitter
Because I felt so all alone

Yet you were always there to comfort me
Maternal grace within
Offering serenity
I was too cut off to win

I don't have to strive or struggle
I'm unlimited in scope
Happy as an infant king
In harmony with hope

My true nature all along
A light heart full of glee
Laughter and the gift of song
Alive inside of me
