SOUND & VISION BOWIE PHOTO EXHIBITION
29th November 2006

Sound and Vision Photograph Exhibition Sound & Vision's DAVID BOWIE photo exhibit will be inaugurated on Wednesday 20th December at h. 22, within an exclusive entry only with invite.

The exhibit 'Excerpt of Passenger' will be inaugurated, an expo dedicated entirely to David Bowie, at the Jam Cocktail Bar in via Gamba a Bassano del Grappa.

It's a photo exhibit two years after the release of 'Passenger' - the White Duke Pictures by Philippe Auliac edited by Sound and Vision Editions.

Philippe Auliac, named the paparazzi of rock, decided to become a star photographer after seeing a Mick Rock snapshot from the final Ziggy Stardust concert. As a movie director, in 2000, he also filmed George Harrison's last appearance 'All Things Must Pass'.

The creation the photographic book 'Passenger', Auliac and Sound and Vision reopened the archive of the photographer in Paris, custodied for almost 30 years and denied to many editors, selecting the 75 unreleased photos which would later be published.

Speaking of the most creative period of Bowie, Auliac states: "I believe, that the period from Station to Station up to Scary Monsters is the most creative interesting one, for this reason I've declined the offers of many editors who wanted to publish all of my Bowie pictures. I have them from all the periods yet I didn't want to have a supermarket book. I therefore decided to publish with Sound and Vision, since the small editior has guaranteed me the maximum freedom. 'Passenger' is a photograph book on a specific character, not just another book on Bowie."

Beside the gorgeous pictures, the venue will tribute the White Duke, projecting videos and proposing the whole repertory of the end of 70's Berlin where Bowie and Brian Eno, wrote one of the most innovative and interesting periods in the history of rock.

The exhibit will remain open till the 7th January 2007.

WITH MY SHOES ON THE STREET
25th November 2006

Update: Bidding has now started. David's donated footwear is a pair of white leather ankle boots.

A whole host of celebs including DAVID BOWIE, Chris Martin, Ringo Starr, Nina Persson, Johnny Marr and Lily Allen are to auction off their shoes for charity.

A number of pop stars have agreed to contribute trainers, high heels and boots to an online sale to raise money for the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) which takes a stand against the spread of small arms and light weapons in Africa.

MAG executive director Lou McGrath said: "The support from celebrities for the shoe auction has been fantastic and resulted in an impressive collection of footwear.

"The money raised will play a vital role in clearing the remnants of conflict, preventing injuries and deaths and regenerating communities. The money is especially needed for our work in Lebanon, where the UN estimates there are around 100,000 unexploded bombs at 359 separate sites."

The shoes are to be auctioned on eBay until 8th December.

MILLIONS WEEP A FOUNTAIN
21st November 2006

© Rex: Lou Reed, Iman and David Bowie DAVID BOWIE and IMAN attended the New York premiere of 'The Fountain' last night at the Tribeca Grand.

The movie directed by Darren Aronofsky and stars Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman tells the story of a man who discovers the secret to eternal life.

The Fountain stretches across three time periods in the course of a millennium, beginning with the period of the Conquistadors in the 16th century, followed by a modern-day period of scientists in search of a cure for cancer, and into 26th century deep space toward a nebula.

In addition to the Central American influences, the astronaut period of the film was partially shaped by 'Space Oddity' and considered by Aronofsky to be the reason why the protagonist was named Tom.

Darren Aronofsky hoped that David Bowie, would record a "third Tom song" as the musical artist worked briefly with composer Clint Mansell during production, but the song was not recorded.

THE UNSEEN DAVID BOWIE
3rd November 2006

Reminder: OBJECTIVE NORTH are currently developing an idea for a television programme called THE UNSEEN DAVID BOWIE.

The basic idea for the programme is to combine rare archive footage of David Bowie along with interview footage of music journalists and experts into a one hour show. In order for the programme to work though we need some genuinely unseen footage. By unseen we mean footage that has never been broadcast on television in the UK.

This is where we are hoping the fans of David Bowie might be able to help. Do you have any footage of Bowie that you believe to be unique, something that you own the copyright to? Be it backstage footage, performance footage or actuality, if you shot it then we are interested. If so please contact me at

We would be willing to pay a fee for any footage used and this is negotiable, also all footage suppliers will be credited at the end of the programme. Please be aware though we are only able to pay a fee to the copyright holder.

We are also interested in any still images you might have as well as moving footage. Again we would be willing to pay a fee should we use them in the programme.

Please contact me if you have any questions. Even if you don't have any footage that suits our purposes but you know of someone who does then we would love to hear from them or you.

Many thanks Joel @ Objective North.

     Format DVD Region 2
     # Discs/Units 1
Release Date 9/11/2006 by Nova Sales and Distribution
     Catalogue Number SIDVD512

Synopsis: By the mid 1970s David Bowie was the biggest pop star in the UK, but his personal life was in turmoil. In a bid to escape the chaos of his drug problems and to flea from the media spotlight, the singer eventually found his way to Berlin, where he started to work on what would become some of the most memorable and critically lauded recordings of his entire career.

With Low, "Heroes" and Lodger, Bowie stopped moving from persona to persona as he had previously done, settling instead on being simply himself. He began to blend the music he was hearing in his adopted homeland (Krautrock, Kraftwerk) with thrilling and often avant-garde methodologies as used by his friend and colleague Brian Eno.

David Bowie - Under Review 1976 - 1979: The Berlin Trilogy features live and studio performances by Bowie, rare interviews, and a host of other features, all interspersed with independent review and criticism from a panel of esteemed experts. These include; former members of both Neu! and Cluster (and key Bowie influences), Dieter Moebius and Michael Rother; broadcaster, journalist and ambient author of The Ambient Century, Mark Prendergast; ex-Melody Maker/Mojo scribe and Reviews Editor at Wire, David Stubbs; music expert and author Daryl Easlea; style aficionado, Paolo Hewitt amongst others.
