WEIRD SCIENCE

by Nevada Kerr

Between creation and demise
Pomposity and fawning
Black hole suns arise
Fathomless and yawning

Arms afloat on the ocean
Learn to swim ashore
Legs on tap just unwrapped
Dance across the floor
And close to home
On a barren plain
Rows of engines roar

Soothing liquid bone
Slides down my burning throat
Rote memories I sell and loan
In a joyless daze of hope

One pill stops the pain
I don't know where to start
One calls to my soul
Another stops my heart

Make good use of me
Before I disappear
I'll soon be obsolete
Improved beyond repair
