"Will you be doing any Webcasts?"
One of the things I'm really excited about at the moment is doing a live online jam session. My long-time guitarist Reeves Gabrels and myself, and probably Tony Visconti and a couple of other musicians, are going to be doing an online jam in place of one of the chats in the spring. That's going to be very exciting because we're doing an hour of completely improvised music from the site. This poses another question - who exactly does that music belong to? Because it's written as we play it live on the Internet, it's not formally copyrighted at all.Has improvisation always played a key role in your work?
It's changed from period to period. At the moment, I'm at a point in my life where I can handle both ways of working pretty well. I feel very confident about improvising and feel extremely happy about composing pieces of music before I go into the studio. This year sees Reeves and myself actually using both ways of working at the same time. We're collaborating on two projects at once at the moment, with one based solely on improvisation, which is really, really exciting.Full Interview posted on Bowie Wonderworld Message Board
BOWIE TO PLAY COLOGNE IN JUNE?

The planned Live-Aid style show in aid of the JUBILEE 2000 campaign has received support from various acts according to U2's BONO.
The U2 singer says artists such as Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins, Michael Jackson, Bob Geldof and Pavarotti want to take part in the show planed for 19th June in Cologne, Germany to support the drive to wipe out Third World Debt.
(Ed. Hopefully this is the talked about rumoured German appearance that has been hinted by David Bowie. David has already shown his support for this cause at The Brit Awards and has appeared the commercial for the campaign shown for the first time at the awards. Fingers crossed!).

DUTCH DAVID BOWIE FAN CLUB MEET

The INTERNATIONAL DAVID BOWIE FAN CLUB will have it's annual fan meeting on MARCH 14th in De Meern (Near Utrecht), Holland.
The meeting will be from 13.00 till 18.00
What to expect this year:
- Merchandise: Dealers from Holland and England will sell CD's, Singles, LP's, Magazines, Video's, Books, Posters etc. etc.
- Free Market Place: Here you can swap your own Bowie material.
- Video's in the movie theatre.
- Great lottery with a lot of Bowie prices.
- "The Shop" from The Voyeur.
- Live Bowie music from the band "The Madmen".
- Exposition: The original HAT that Bowie wore during "The Man Who Fell To Earth" and more.
- And of course, meet other Bowie fans.

Members: Fl. 7,50 (you can bring 1 guest that will pay the same price).

BRIT AWARDS 99 TV LISTINGS

The BRIT AWARDS 99 will be shown on UK TV at 8.00pm - 10.00pm on ITV stations on Wednesday 17th February.
DAVID BOWIE together with PLACEBO are to perform a cover version of MARC BOLAN'S '20th Century Boy'.
The Brit Awards will also be aired in the United States on ABC TV on Saturday, 6th March in a 90 minute special programme.

..."Finally, I went to see the amazing ANNIE CHRISTIAN last week. They rocked! PLACEBO seem to agree - they were all there and I hear that the Molko chap's lined up to play with DAVID BOWIE at the Brit Awards. Only on stage, mind you! Ha ha ha. Seriously though, that Bowie needs to sort himself out, meeting up with the singer from every second-rate comedy glam covers band really cheapens his trashy glamour. Or something. To be honest I don't have a clue what I'm talking about. Sorry...(Ed. Brett... Placebo second-rate? You're not listening to them properly.... I hope you are including Suede in with the covers band comment!? LOL).
THIRD WORLD DEBIT CAMPAIGN

DROP THE DEBT campaign has been launched by the music industry which is to be unveiled at next weeks BRIT AWARDS. The campaign is to pressurise world leaders into writing off Third World debt.
According to UN figures, if £11 billion pounds of global debt could be written off and then diverted into health and education, then 7 million lives could be saved.
Artists already pledging their support to the campaign include DAVID BOWIE, THE PRODIGY and ROBBIE WILLIAMS.

The superb EVERYBODY LOVES SUNSHINE movie starring DAVID BOWIE, GOLDIE, ANDREW GOTH and VINCENT DAVIES is set to be shown at the Brussels' International Festival Of Fantasy, Thriller and Science Fiction Films. Scheduled for 12th March - 27th March and the Salerno Film Festival in Southern Italy on 21st April to 25th April.

BOWIE MILLENNIUM SHOW CONFIRMED
4th February 1999
DAVID BOWIE has confirmed on NWTV that he is to appear at the Gisborne 2000 Millennium festival concert performance in New Zealand on 31st December-1st January 1999.
David will take the stage at 12.01am on January 1st 2000 making him the first artist to perform in the new millennium.
There will be a ticket allocation of 35,000, with 25,000 to be sold outside of NZ.
Allstarmag are reporting that David is to penn a special millennium song in honour of the event.
