Legendary photographer MICK ROCK captures a jovial DAVID BOWIE and The Spiders From Mars hanging out in the dressing room in Dunstable in this exclusive clip from Shot! The Psycho-Spiritual Mantra of Rock, a new documentary out next month.
The documentary features unseen archival footage and unearthed audio recordings of some of Rock's most famous subjects, including Bowie, Queen, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett.
In addition to Rock's landmark work and his relationships with rock legends, the documentary also focuses on the photographer's battle with drug addiction and a near-death experience he had in his youth.
Shot! will be released in theatres on 7th April, the same day the film heads to Amazon Video, iTunes and other services.
Check out the exclusive footage and article from ROLLING STONE magazine on their website.
On this day, 41 years ago, DAVID BOWIE had this rather debonair mugshot taken by the Rochester Police Department when he appeared at the City Court for arraignment.
David was arrested a few days earlier for possessing marijuana in Rochester, New York on 21st March 1976.
The 5x4 inch photograph was found and rescued by Gary Hess from the trash during an estate sale of a retired Rochester police officer. It was later auctioned on eBay and realised $2,556 (£1,247.44 GBP).
The picture was taken four days after David was arrested, along with singer James Newell Osterberg, Jr. (aka Iggy Pop), bodyguard Dwayne A. Vaughn (22), of Brooklyn and Chi Wah Soo (20) of Rochester on drug possession charges.
The four were arrested at 2:25 a.m. in a three-room suite in the hotel at 70 State Street by four city vice squad detectives and a State Police investigator. They were all charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana. Police said they confiscated what they described as about half a pound of marijuana (182 grams). The charge was a Class C felony, carrying a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
They were busted at the Americana Rochester Hotel and held in the Monroe County jail for a few hours before being released. David's $2,000 bail was ordered in cash, and $2,000 in bond was set for the others.
David pleaded innocent in court and was eventually found not guilty by the Rochester City Court.

In collaboration with the David Bowie Estate, RAYMOND WEIL pays homage to legendary musician - David Bowie. The Limited Edition Freelancer "David Bowie", is a tribute to the life and musical career of one of the most influential artists of all time. Created to celebrate what would have been Bowie's 70th birthday, this timepiece is dedicated to a few of the many personas created by David Bowie, an artist with unparalleled creativity, a singular visionary, a man of a thousand faces and voices. Bowie's boundless talent and fearless innovation shone through his final masterpiece, ★, released last year to some of the best critical notices of his distinguished career and winning five Grammy Awards and two Brit Awards in 2017.
To celebrate the immortal David Bowie, RAYMOND WEIL has chosen its most free-spirited model - Freelancer. Its 42 mm diameter case contains a dial resembling a vinyl record clearly featuring some of the most emblematic design cues of the British artist.
Amongst the key design features, the lightning bolt painted across his face that first appeared on the cover of the Aladdin Sane album in 1973. The instantly distinctive mark universally recognised, the stylised lightning bolt is featured in red at 12 o'clock. The pop art logo from the cover of the album Diamond Dogs in 1974 makes its mark on the dial of the David Bowie Limited Edition.
Produced in a 3,000-piece limited, numbered series, the Freelancer "David Bowie" beats to the tempo of a mechanical self-winding movement that appears beneath a portrait of David Bowie, immortalised in 1974 by famous photographer of legends, Terry O'Neill. A photograph printed on the sapphire of the watch's case-back, from which this artist in his own league challenges the world with his atypical, magnetic gaze.
"He was an artist in a league of his own, a visionary, multi-faceted icon whose work is testimony to an exceptional career as a musician and a creative. His metamorphoses both in terms of style and music studded his career, catapulting both himself and his characters to legendary status. He embodies the free spirit that has guided RAYMOND WEIL day after day since it was created" declared Elie Bernheim, CEO RAYMOND WEIL
I've always felt that there was a real synergy behind great timepieces and photography. The precision of keeping time is akin to a photographer needing to know the exact moment to capture an iconic image. As a watch collector myself, this RAYMOND WEIL collaboration is a wonderful project to be affiliated with. Their watches are a thing of beauty. I'm thrilled they've selected to pay tribute to David Bowie in such a way and I'm honored to be a part of it." - Terry O'Neill.
For more details and information, please visit raymond-weil.com website.
(Ed. I'm told the watch goes on sale in October, but will be available for pre-ordering on their website shortly).
Several people keep asking about the Brixton memorial sculpture for DAVID BOWIE, unfortunately, this particular project was not successful.
The fundraisers state on their page...
If someone had told us a year ago that we'd raise 50 grand from nearly 700 wonderful people in just three weeks we wouldn't have believed it possible. Thank you from the bottom of our Bowie-obsessed hearts for supporting us.
Of course, £50,000 doesn't go anywhere near realising the ambitions of the ZiggyZag. It will be no surprise to anyone that this crowdfund isn't going to hit its target. As with any all-or-nothing campaign, no money will be taken from pledgers.
I hope you'll be glad to hear though that we have no plans to go away.
We are still determined to celebrate David Bowie, in Brixton, with a challenging and appropriate piece of public art. We're just going to have to approach the fundraising in a different way.
For more details and information on their forthcoming possible plans, please visit the crowdfunder.co.uk/bowie page.

Check out some rehearsal footage courtesy of Reelin' In The Years Productions of TIN MACHINE (David Bowie, Reeves Gabrels, Tony and Hunt Sales) behind the scenes for their performance on Dutch TV's 'Countdown' on 16th September 1991.
The band joke around and run through 'You Belong In Rock 'N' Roll', with David doing a Marc Bolan impersonation after being told by Hunt to "Sing it baby".
There is a solo snippet of 'Goodbye Mr. Ed' with David on 12-string acoustic guitar, followed by a run-through of 'One Shot'.

Currently taking place in Southampton are two DAVID BOWIE / MICK RONSON themed plays - THIS IS FOR YOU and CAN YOU HEAR ME MAJOR TOM?...
They opened on Tuesday at Oasis Academy to a great reception.
There is to be a performance of 'Can You Hear Me Major Tom' at the Totton Drama Festival next Friday 24th March.
We don't know what the future for the production will be but I hope they will be published so that other groups are able to present them. There are already plans for 'This Is For You' to be performed in Hull later this year.
This is for You A play inspired by and set to the background of the music of Mick Ronson (David Bowie's guitarist from the Spiders from Mars). 'This Is For You' is a play for anyone who has ever felt that music, whether one song or a hundred, becomes the soundtrack to our lives, an emotive story about being in and out of love, the secrets we keep and the truths we tell.
It is also a story is about giving... literal gifts and more intangible things... a chance to uncover more of the past... to make up for lost time and to mourn a love that was never quite lost.
Performance: Saturday 18th March 8:30 - (Sold Out).
Can You Hear Me Major Tom? David Bowie's unexpected death led to an outpouring of love. To some, this was a surprise. To those who had known and even those who had admired him, it provided some comfort. Using their words this play tells the story of how David Bowie fans came to appreciate the MainMan and his impact on their lives. It also features the words of Mary Finnigan, who David lived with at the time he wrote and released Space Oddity, from her recent book Psychedelic Suburbia. David Bowie is... and will continue to be an inspiration to them and countless others.
Performances: Thursday 16th March 7:30 £5 (£3 concession).
Saturday 18th March 8:30 - (Sold Out).
Venue: Oasis Academy, Lord's Hill, Romsey Road, Southampton, SO15 8FA. (Sat. Nav. SO16 0XN). Tickets from 02380739797.
Tickets for the performance on Friday 24th March at Totton Drama Festival, Hangar Farm Theatre, Totton at 7pm, are available via wegottickets.com

The documentary is a deep look into the mind of one of rock's greatest living photographers: MICK ROCK. Rock's work with some of the most accomplished personalities of the past forty years - DAVID BOWIE, Queen, Blondie, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop - created many of the images that would come to define them. Presented in his own words, Rock takes us through his journey from the glam rock shimmer of London, through the snarl of NYC punk and into the new millennium, combining a portrait of the man who did the work, with a look at what the work did to the man.
In theatres, On Demand, on Amazon Video and iTunes on Friday 7th April.

LIVE FOR FILMS Directed by DA Pennebaker, the concert movie Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars: The Motion Picture captures DAVID BOWIE and his band at the height of their powers on stage at London's Hammersmith Odeon on July 3rd, 1973, the singer causing a furore with his announcement that the gig would be "the last show that we'll ever do".
MOJO magazine returns to this moment of high drama with an exclusive companion film where WOODY WOODMANSEY, the sole surviving member of the Spiders From Mars, re-lives the events of that fateful night, and chronicles Bowie's rise from the fringes of the British underground scene to global superstardom.
This new film sees Woody return to London's Trident Studios where he and his fellow Spiders - Mick Ronson (guitar) and Trevor Bolder (bass) - cut a number of classic albums with Bowie including The Man Who Sold The World (1970), Hunky Dory (1971) and, of course, The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars (1972).
In a wide-ranging conversation with MOJO's Editor-In-Chief, Phil Alexander, Woody - whose acclaimed autobiography My Life With Bowie: Spider From Mars has just been published by Sigwick & Jackson - reflects on the most formative period in Bowie's career, and provides a fascinating insight into the man's impact as well as the star's conflicted view of commercial success.
Woody Womansey commented "Every so often an artist comes along and has that ability to really communicate - because that's what art is - and it's on such a high level. There's good music, there's better music, great music, and then you've got somebody who can deliver constantly. He was a cut above. I always thought that any time David Bowie wanted to write a hit song he could sit down and in 20 minutes he would have written one. He always had that about him. The fact that he didn't do that was his choice. He came out at a point when the business and the world really needed brightening up. It needed a lift. He managed to do that, he managed to lift it, and then [his influence] went into all into the other arts and genres of music, and brightened all of their areas up. That's one individual who managed to do that."
Presented in association with CineEvents, the nationwide screenings of both films will take place across the UK next week on 7th March. Participating cinemas include: Picturehouse, Everyman, Curzon, ODEON, Cineworld and Vue cinemas as well as a number of independent sites and chains.
Tickets can be purchased from ziggystardust-cinevents.com

Alternatively, if you are a Facebook user you can also get in touch via their Closed Group David Bowie World 7" Records - simply click on JOIN GROUP and you will be added.
Update: #2
Dear all, we are amazed by the success and enthusiasm generated by our book project! Our original intention was to limit the edition to the number sold over a few weeks, which we never thought would reach a total of 100. Having 15 pre-reserved, we first offered 85, but orders came so quickly and 99 have been sold in one week, 46 of which just yesterday! As a result many friends of ours were angry that they couldn't order in time and were falling out with us. We hope you don't mind that it's more than 100. We don't want to make Bowie collectors unhappy and loose friends, so decided to offer more. It will in any case remain a very limited edition and we will keep you informed of the progress.
Best regards, Marshall and Reto.

After nearly twelve months of planning, to celebrate DAVID BOWIE's 70th birthday year, the Public Numismatic and Philatelic Office of the Republic of SAN MARINO have issued a specially commissioned set of stamps.
The philatelic set celebrates the long and eclectic career of David Bowie, famous singer-songwriter and actor, who was born in London on the 8th January 1947.
Jonathan Barnbrook, who took care of the graphic art of his last album covers, is the designer of the souvenir sheet and of the first day of issue postmark.
The first stamp shows the young Bowie as astronaut Major Tom, one of the many characters embodied by the rock star; above on the right, a black star refers to his last album, 'Blackstar'.
The second value depicts an interpretation of the 'Aladdin Sane' record cover highlighting the instantly recognisable Ziggy Stardust's flash.
The third stamp shows Bowie's profile picture that was used for both the 'Low' album cover and poster of 'The Man Who Fell To Earth', above Bowie in this stamp, a crown refers to his character 'The Thin White Duke' and that this issue is a celebration of one of the 20th and 21st century's most notable creative men.
The logo, also created by Barnbrook, represents both Bowie's name and that it is the 70th anniversary of his birth.
