For the serious art collectors out there... two pieces of original DAVID BOWIE artwork are available for purchase.
I have two large pieces of original art by His Rockgodliness David of which one is a self portrait. I wish to sell ONE of the pieces. I am willing to sell whichever a buyer prefers, but wish to keep one.
The first is SELF PORTRAIT II 14 inch x 10 inch - (35.5cm x 28.8 cm). This is a stunningly beautiful piece of Bowie art and any Bowie fan would love owning it. (The frame is much larger so it is a large piece of art in completeness with the frame, which was framed by Bowie's framers not me).
This is a charcoal, chalk and pastel drawing from 1996. It was purchased through David's art dealer Kate Chertavian. I have the receipt and it can be verified by Rokeby Art (taken over from Kate Chertavian).
It is in excellent condition and the photograph does not give true justice to the colours and sharpness.
Last year I was asking £8-£10k, but then something turned up and I didn't need to sell any. However, I would like some money to get me to the next stage of a current project (require £4,500) so will sell either one for this. (No offers please).
I know some Bowie handwritten song lyrics went for £9,375 recently at Christie's, hence we are looking in this region and would deliver personally included in any agreed price.
The second original is ANCESTOR (there was an Ancestor II slightly different) both can be seen here - ours is the original - the info on this page refers to both the original and the limited edition prints.
It is a 20 inch x 16 inch acrylic on canvas created in 1995 and is framed with a Zebra type striped frame in beige and black. I purchased it from the David Bowie exhibition at the Cork Street gallery in April 1995.
Kate Chertavian told me at the time of purchasing this, that Bowie did a series of four originals, two called Ancestor and Ancestor II and two called Zenzi (and possibly Zenzi II - I can't quite remember, but these were as I recall a story/series).
Charles Saatchi who is one of, if not the biggest collector of art in the UK bought Zenzi. I have read since he sold a lot of his modern art to fund his gallery so I'm not sure if he still owns Zenzi. Again I would want £4,500 (no offers please).
Please contact the BW webmaster who will forward on any enquiries to me.
Thank you very much for your interest.
Dr. Keith Gildart from the University of Wolverhampton is currently working on an academic paper on DAVID BOWIE and popular music in the period 1972-75.
He is interested in the memories of fans in England from this period and particularly their engagement with Bowie's music and fashion.
Ideally he would also like to correspond with any fans who attended the Ziggy Stardust shows.

Yesterday in London at the BFI Southbank saw the screening of DAVID BOWIE's performance of 'The Jean Genie' from Top of the Pops filmed on 3rd January 1973, courtesy of John Henshall's archive.
Below are a few comments from people who attended...
'What a magical event that was. Bowie and Ronson, in particular, on spectacular form. I hope it gets show on TV sometime - the NFT screening was immense.' - SimonF.
'The Jean Genie - Top of the Pops! If only there was a law saying all pop music videos had to be viewed 39 years after they were filmed... only. We'd appreciate it a lot more. Twas like being in a time machine and like discovering something for the first time. All at once! Get in. Nice work BFI and all concerned.' - AndyB.
'OMG! After almost 39 years I've just seen 'The Jean Genie' from Top Of The Pops twice! The screening began with the slate counting it in and the live version far surpasses the versions available on youtube etc. A real powerhouse of a performance with Bowie looking stunning. Any Mick Ronson fans will adore this performance though, with his top unzipped showing off his chest and looking gorgeous. Oh I wish I could watch it again and again. Luckily after the first screening it was played a second time! John Henshall the guy who saved it was charming and very approachable and he was so pleased to hear I called it 'the greatest Top Of The Pops recovery of all time'. - Mike
(Ed. If you were there and want to add your own comments - feel free to email me or post on the BW Message Board).
BBC News Oxford have also reported on the find - 'David Bowie Top of the Pops footage found by Oxfordshire cameraman' - [Read here]
NIKKI SIXX of Mötley Crüe and now also making a name for himself as a photographer is interviewed by the New York Post. Check out some of the questions asked...
Q: OK, let's jump to DAVID BOWIE - one of your inspirations.
N: Yeah I love Bowie's music, I love the fact that he's always been fashion-forward. Mixing fashion and music together. So important.
Q: Today's shoot was kinda Bowie-ish - the outfits.
N: Today was very Bowie-esque, a lot of the tear sheets were New York Dolls, Bowie, T. Rex, a lot of original glam rock that came out in the early '70s to mid '70's. Amazing stuff. It looks so great to mix it with the models. We're trying to not have it look just like a fashion shoot but to have a little bit of texture to it.
Q: So if you had a opportunity to shoot David Bowie - if he was at the height of his success, musically?
N: I think Bowie is one of those artists where just to shoot him - whether he was younger, his middle part of his career or now that he's segueing into being, obviously, a legend and someone that we look to as inspiration for generations - I think you can just capture what's happening on his face. I think Bowie at 70 is going to be just as cool as Bowie at 27.
You can read the complete interview at the nypost.com website.
Update: BBC executives have now decided to show the footage during their Christmas TOTP2 show.
Former BBC cameraman JOHN HENSHALL who revealed DAVID BOWIE's 1973 performance from Top of the Pops of 'The Jean Genie' from his archives writes...
"Over the past few days I have spoken to three current BBC producers: Richard Marson of 'Tales of Television Centre' (the man who first reacted to the news of my tape), Mark Cooper of TOTP2 and James Hale, who is producing a special Bowie documentary you will all want to see, for transmission in June 2012. All three men are dedicated in their individual and special ways. I feel our heritage is safe with them. Mark Cooper does have a copy of my recording and would love to show it but he respects my previous agreement with Richard Marson and confirms that it will NOT be shown in the 21st December 2011 show.
"On Monday 12th December he is recording Christmas TOTP in TC4 at the Television Centre and has invited me along to watch. For me this will be an amazing nostalgic experience my first TOTP for 35 years.
"When 'Tales of Television Centre' airs (no date fixed yet) Richard Marson intends to show my story and just a clip in the programme but to make the whole video available on the Red Button in its original 4:3 aspect ratio format, without voice over or caption superimposition."
