Recently published is the new book David Bowie: The Seventies which features wonderful photographs by GIJSBERT HANEKEOOT and text by Sebastiaan Vos (in English/Dutch/French).
This softback book contains 128 pages and features several rarely seen photographs. Fabulous stuff.
Gijsbert Hanekroot (1945) started as a professional photographer in 1969. He witnessed the explosion of the rock scene in the seventies, which he recorded in numerous iconic images. This book contains his most important pictures of David Bowie, including some little-known gems.
Sebastiaan Vos (1973), publicist and archivist, has been a Bowie fan as long as he can remember. For 'David Bowie The Seventies' he not only wrote a concise and informative biography, but also the extraordinary story of his love for one of the biggest artists in pop music. This book appears in Dutch, English and French.
You can purchase David Bowie: The Seventies NOW.
On this day, 16 years ago, DAVID BOWIE performed at the BBC Radio Theatre, Portland Place, London in 2000 to a specially invited audience.
I wrote in my diary... 'An awesome performance tonight by David and the band, even more so considering David was clearly under the weather with "half a bronchitis on top of the laryngitis" and a ticklish throat. As ever the professional, he kept soldering on, with the aid of a breathing type menthol thingy-inhaler... he even joked around doing Frank Booth impressions from the 'Blue Velvet' movie'.
The full set list ran as follows:
01. Wild Is The Wind.

Excited to announce the launch of PSG's latest book, DAVID BOWIE: BEHIND THE CURTAIN by photographer ANDREW KENT with foreword by Academy Award winner Cameron Crowe.
The book documents the era of the Thin White Duke, the 1976 world tour, and numerous larger-than-life moments along the way.
About 25% of the photos in the book have never before been seen.
In 1975, rock 'n roll photographer Andrew Kent landed the gig of a lifetime. He had been entrusted by Bowie to document, with unfettered access, anything and everything Bowie and his entourage encountered for the next two years. Backstage, on stage, private parties, birthday parties, limos, quiet hotel moments, dressing rooms, Berlin, Paris, New York, London, Helsinki, Moscow. Also along during the 1976 world tour was an 18-year-old Rolling Stone reporter researching a cover story on Bowie named Cameron Crowe. In 1976 Bowie took Iggy Pop, his manager Pat Gibbons, his personal secretary Coco, and Kent on an impromptu excursion by train to the Soviet Union. A mistake on the schedule at the train station caused the group to miss their return train to Helsinki leading the press to run frenzied headlines reading, 'David Bowie Missing in Soviet Union!'. With his unprecedented access, Kent created a one-of-a-kind travelogue, capturing the unique and spectacular life of one of the most iconic musicians in rock 'n' roll history.
Scheduled for publication in early October, all books purchased during the pre-order phase (through September 15th) will be personally autographed by Andrew Kent.
There is a 'First Edition', hardcover 160 pages, a 'Collectors' Edition' and 'Edition of Five'.
You can check out a gallery of photos or pre-order the book at bowiebehindthecurtain.com

A festival celebrating the life and legacy of DAVID BOWIE and The Beckenham Arts Lab...
Bowie fans and music lovers from Britain and beyond will come together in Beckenham, South London on Saturday 13th August, in the park where his rise to stardom took off in 1969.
Bowie's Beckenham Oddity will take place at the bandstand at the Croydon Road Recreation Ground, where Bowie and his friends from the Beckenham Arts Lab organised the UK's first Free Festival on 16th August, 47 years ago. The festival coincided with the release of David's first hit single Space Oddity and was immortalised with another hit song, Memory Of A Free Festival.
This year's event kicks off at 1.00 pm with a stellar line up of musical talent, who will reprise lots of Bowie's greatest songs including Life On Mars?, which he wrote while sitting on the bandstand steps. Featured artists include Malcolm Doherty, Daphne Guinness, Maggi Ronson, Phillip Rambow and Boe Huntress.
There's a welcome return from Amory Kane who played at the 1969 Free Festival and also at the 2013 and 2014 Memory of a Free Festival events organised at the bandstand by Beckenham resident Natasha Ryzhova Lau. The avant garde duo Raf & O are also welcomed back, following their performances in 2013 and 2014.
David's co-founder and organiser of The Beckenham Arts Lab, Mary Finnigan, will be signing copies of her recently published book Psychedelic Suburbia, and photographer Gaz de Vere will be taking photos at the event.
The two Memory of a Free Festival events raised £16,000 towards the bandstand restoration fund. Bowie's Beckenham Oddity organiser Wendy Faulkner says her aim this year is to raise even more.
"After the devastating news of David's death in January we felt we had to do a tribute for him - and there's no more fitting place to do this than the bandstand where he played in 1969," she says. "It's not just about Bowie, but also all the people who were involved with him along his path to stardom."
Bowie's Beckenham Oddity is supported by The London Borough of Bromley, which has named the bandstand in his honour. When enough money is raised, it will be restored to its former glory.
Other attractions this year include food and drinks by local caterers Dizzy's Diner, plus market stalls. There will be an auction of Bowie memorabilia - including a signed David Bowie item from the Official Bowie Archives - before the end of the day at 7.00pm.
Tickets for the event cost £10 (under tens free) and are available on the day or in advance NOW via wegottickets.com website.
More details and information can be found at facebook.com/bowies.beckenham.oddity

Updated: At last night's 2016 CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Awards in New York, actress TILDA SWINTON accepted 'The Board of Directors' Special Tribute' award for DAVID BOWIE.
Taking the form of a written letter, Tilda gave a moving and heartfelt tribute...
Dear Dave,
The CFDA have the great good sense and elegance to tip their caps at you this year.
There's pretty much no year out of the last forty that this would not have been a good idea. But this time around, it feels like an apt opportunity, given this stage in the proceedings, to remind us all how very much a part of us you always were and always will be.
At the request of your beautiful Missus, I've come to collect it for her, for you.
These kind people - the fanciest fashion people on the planet - are giving you their highest prize - their directors' tribute - to honour and to thank you for all the shapes you've thrown, from start to finish, through all your years, golden and otherwise, all your changes, ever moving forward, all your colours, all your magic, all your vim and vigour, all your glory, all ways and always.
You checked out early and we're still finding things you left in the drawers and looking for a forwarding address, but you are still hanging signs in the sky, in the trees, for us and we are so grateful for every one.
We want to tell you that we miss you, but how very happy we all are that you came by... and that we are getting used to resting on your stardust in your absence.
Once upon a time you gave us a freak for freaks: now and forever more, in our missing you (and this is a good thing), you have brought out the freak in everyone.
You tipped us that wink from the first: one man's freak is another man's free.
Difference and change are all we ever have to rely upon, and always were.
Thank you, chum, for brightening our horizon. For inspiring and exhilarating and enlightening our times. How lucky we are who turned up since you were first here. Thank you for your happiness and your eternal bona-ness and zhoosh.
You are our hero. Forever and ever.
Everyone says hi.
Love,
Your Tilly.
Following the speech, Lazarus actor MICHAEL C. HALL performed the Bowie iconic song 'Changes'.
You can read a review via the elle.com website.
Also published on the CFDA website is a tribute from TOMMY HILFIGER which will appear in the 2016 CFDA Fashion Awards Journal.
(Ed. Update: Elle Magazine got their transcription of the letter slightly wrong - now updated and corrected via davidbowie.com website).

The DAVID BOWIE: Fame, Fashion, Photography fundraiser is taking place in Heddon Street, London later this week on 7th June through 19th June.
This exhibition will showcase a unique collection of David Bowie images from three British photographers. Many have not been exhibited before and have not been seen outside the photographers' studios.
Visitors will be able to buy a limited edition, hand-numbered David Bowie: Fame, Fashion, Photography catalogue, with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK. The catalogue is only available to purchase at the exhibition.
The space, kindly donated by Regent Street and The Crown Estate, is described as 'one of the natural gravitational points for many fans to pay their respect' after David's passing. The exhibition takes place on the very street where Bowie was photographed for the cover of 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars' album.
Venue: The Hub, 10 Heddon Street, London W1B 4BX.
FREE entry, all proceeds go to Cancer Research UK
Opening times are: 11am - 7pm
Coinciding with the exhibition of the unseen images there will be an online auction of a selection of 23 prints taken by Chalkie Davies, Tony McGee and Denis O'Regan.
