Update: Parlophone Records will release a 7-inch version of MORRISSEY's 'That's Entertainment' in October on 29th January.
The recording is not the aborted version from 1994, but retains the original Morrissey vocal. New instrumentation and vocals have been added. The song is a cover version of the 45 issued by The Jam and written by Paul Weller.
The flipside of the single is a re-mixed version of Morrissey and DAVID BOWIE duetting on Marc Bolan's 'Cosmic Dancer'. The live recording has been newly produced by Boz Boorer, and was recorded in Los Angeles.

Check out this rare 8mm dubbed footage of DAVID BOWIE performing at Sport Palais Ahoy in Rotterdam on 13th May 1976.
This is an update on the recordings I produced with David in the mid-1960s that Bowie fans may not know about, apart from the usual Internet rumours!
Firstly, the tracks by The Manish Boys and 'Davy Jones', as he was then, that we released back in 1965, to remind old and new fans how good David was - before he was "discovered" several years later.
The Manish Boys - I Pity The Fool
The Manish Boys - Take My Tip
Davy Jones [and The Lower Third] - You've Got A Habit Of Leaving
Davy Jones [and The Lower Third] - Baby Loves That Way
In the early 1990s, Rhino Records reissued these four tracks, along with a handful more from my archives.
Now, with his passing, Bowie is "hotter" than ever, and there is a great demand for anything he recorded.
The good news for Bowie fans is that I have a further EIGHT completely unreleased David Bowie tracks that I produced in my files, kept in secure storage for many years.
For security reasons, these tracks have never even been played for anybody in their entirety, and are unknown to even the most ardent Bowie-philes.
Now I would like to make this material available, and my intention for this project is for my team and I to be involved and to enter into a deal with a major label.
My attorneys and I have been negotiating with several interested parties, including the Bowie Estate.
So far, unfortunately, it's been very slow-going, and as of this date, I have nothing positive to report.
To all you Bowie fans, worldwide, I'm letting you know I'm trying my best to get this done, and before anybody says "Yeah but"...
I absolutely admit and acknowledge how much this will also benefit me personally!
My colleague, Alec Palao, is preparing a detailed outline expanding upon what I've written, that he hopes to have published soon.
We hope to accomplish something that will satisfy all parties - especially Bowie fans!

The third and final instalment of the DAVID BOWIE - ALBUMTOALBUM epic conversation with DONNY McCASLIN and LEAH KARDOS takes a behind the scenes look at the recording of David Bowie's final album, ★ in New York.
Donny tells us what it was like to work on Bowie's demos and how even in his last sessions, David B was as inspired, energised and excited as ever by his music and collaborators.
Thanks to Donny for his time and generosity in sharing these precious memories and especially to LEAH KARDOS for her insights and perspectives on the album.

At the end of 1994, musician, producer and artist BRIAN ENO resolved to keep a diary. His plans to go to the cinema, theatre and galleries fell through quickly. What he did do - and write - however, was astonishing: ruminations on his collaborative work with artists including DAVID BOWIE, U2, James and Jah Wobble, interspersed with correspondence and essays dating back to 1978.
These 'appendices' covered topics from the generative and ambient music Eno pioneered to what he believed the role of an artist and their art to truly be, alongside razor-sharp commentary on his day-to-day tribulations and happenings around the world.
A fascinating, candid and intimate insight into one of the most influential creative artists of our time, A Year with Swollen Appendices is an essential classic, reissued for a new generation of readers.
This beautiful 25th anniversary hardback edition has been re-designed in A5, the same size as the diary that eventually became this book. It features two ribbons, pink paper delineating the appendices (matching the original hardback edition) and a two-tone cover on boards that pays homage to the original design.
Reviews: "A cranium tour of one of the most creative minds of our age." - Wired.
"Brian Eno's dual role in experimental and popular music is without precedent, and his influence on the music scene as a whole is difficult to overstate." - Pitchfork.
"Behind Eno stand John Cage, Marcel Duchamp, and Erik Satie." - New Yorker.
"As singular and as entertaining as anything the pop polymath has produced." - Observer, The 50 Greatest Music Books Ever.
Book Description: The diary and essays of Brian Eno republished twenty-five years on with a new introduction by the artist in a beautiful hardback edition.
About the Author: Brian Eno is a musician, producer, visual artist, and activist who first came to international prominence in the early '70s as a founding member of British band Roxy Music. His visionary production includes albums with Talking Heads, Devo, U2, Laurie Anderson and Coldplay, whilst his long list of collaborations include recordings with David Bowie, David Byrne, Grace Jones, Karl Hyde, James Blake among many. His visual experiments with light and video continue to parallel his musical career with exhibitions all over the globe.
To date he has released over 30 albums of his own music, exhibited extensively as far afield as the Venice Biennale and the sails of the Sydney Opera House and is a founder-member of the Long Now Foundation, a trustee of Client Earth, and Patron of Videre Est Credere. His most recent work includes a 23-track expanded edition of his seminal album, Apollo: Atmospheres & Soundtracks, the soundtrack to Top Boy's current 3rd season (he also scored the first two seasons) and his latest album with brother Roger, Mixing Colours released on Deutsche Grammophon earlier this year.
A Year with Swollen Appendices: Brian Eno's Diary - 25th Anniversary Edition hardback, containing 352-pages is published in the UK on 19th November.

This is quite mad, or quite possibly genius. Either way, it's fun working out which DAVID BOWIE songs are which...
New book BOWIE ODYSSEY 70 by SIMON GODDARD, is a 192-page paperback scheduled for publication on 29th October.
Synopsis: He starts the decade a teenage pop idol. But the one-hit wonder who sang 'Space Oddity' is still very far from becoming the star who will one day define the 1970s. Not when he still has a band to find, a manager to sack, a mentally ill brother to save, a wife to marry and a rival called Marc Bolan to beat. Not when David Bowie still has no idea who or what David Bowie is.
Starting at the beginning of Bowie's incredible ten-year odyssey changing the course of pop music, Simon Goddard's bold and expressionistic biography weaves time, space, rock 'n' roll and social history to relive Bowie's 1970 moment by vivid moment.
About the author: Simon Goddard was born in Cardiff in 1971. He grew up in Wales and Scotland and went to art school in the North of England before becoming a music journalist in London. He is the author of six books including Songs That Saved Your Life (hailed by The Guardian as "the best Smiths book"), Mozipedia (a Mojo Readers' Book Of The Year), Ziggyology: A Brief History of Ziggy Stardust, Simply Thrilled, the mock-picaresque biographical novel Rollaresque ("an excellent history of the early years of The Rolling Stones" - The Times) and The Comeback: Elvis and the Story of the '68 Special.
You can pre-order Bowie Odyssey 70 now.
On this day, 49 years ago, DAVID BOWIE recorded 'Life On Mars?' at Trident Studios in Soho, London.
David Bowie: "This song was so easy. Being young was easy. A really beautiful day in the park, sitting on the steps of the bandstand. 'Sailors bap-bap-bap-bap-baaa-bap.' An anomic (not a 'gnomic') heroine. Middle-class ecstasy.
"I took a walk to Beckenham High Street to catch a bus to Lewisham to buy shoes and shirts but couldn't get the riff out of my head. Jumped off two stops into the ride and more or less loped back to the house up on Southend Road.
"Workspace was a big empty room with a chaise longue; a bargain-price art nouveau screen ('William Morris,' so I told anyone who asked); a huge overflowing freestanding ashtray and a grand piano. Little else.
"I started working it out on the piano and had the whole lyric and melody finished by late afternoon. Nice.
"Rick Wakeman came over a couple of weeks later and embellished the piano part and guitarist Mick Ronson created one of his first and best string parts for this song which now has become something of a fixture in my live shows."
The original working lyrics written by David for Life On Mars? ended up with more than a few changes...
Sailors fighting in the dance hall
Oh man look at those cave men go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the law man beating up the wrong
Wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
Is there life on Mars
How the hell can we go when we're nowhere
In the light of the stars

"Whatever route brought you to David Bowie, and whatever spells he has cast on you power the years, I think you'll find much in this book that strikes a chord." - David Bowie expert Nicholas Pegg.
Everyone knows the story of David Bowie, the Brixton boy who by sheer force of will made himself into the biggest pop star in the world via glam rock, white boy soul and Berlin before signing off by turning even his own death into an artistic statement.
This is not his story.
Instead, charity anthology Me And The Starman is the story of the lipstick traces he left behind: the impact his artistic endeavours made on our lives. How his music, his acting and his presence inspired people and let them think differently about themselves.
Edited by Jon Arnold and James Gent, and published by Cult Ink, Me And The Starman tells the stories from the fans and those who knew him, the story of the connections he made with his art. With a foreword from the author of The Complete David Bowie, Nicholas Pegg, and an afterword from former MainMan USA President Tony Zanetta and including contributions from musicians such as Adamski, Kristian Hoffman, Malcolm Doherty and Jessica Lee Morgan, Glass Spider Tour performer Viktor Manoel, novelist Paul Magrs and Eisner Award winning writer and artist Nick Abadzis amongst many others, it traces the often invisible impact he made on lives that might otherwise have been very different. It's a story that stretches from The Laughing Gnome to Lazarus, from the Beckenham Arts Lab to Blackstar and beyond.
"Me & The Starman works as a useful, highly articulate and enjoyable reminder that David Bowie meant an awful lot of different things to lots of different people." - Author, journalist and broadcaster Keith Topping.
Me And The Starman is a deeply intimate and very personal collection of stories and essays paying tribute to how the man who fell to Earth grounded us all, and helped the weirdest among us feel a little less alone. It's the story of when you give not only your hands but your hearts to an artist. In the words of its editors, "This is a celebration, not a memorial."
"As much as the individual pieces vary in tone and style, they all come across as thoroughly heartfelt. Like Bowie's own songs, nearly every one of them offers an indelible passage that makes the feeling of personal connection concrete, especially when paired with a sense of discovery." - CultureSonar.com review
Originally published by Chinbeard Books in 2019 on the fiftieth anniversary of David Bowie's breakthrough hit single Space Oddity, Me And The Starman returns to print as the inaugural title of Cult Ink, the newly-launched publishing arm of popular culture website We Are Cult edited by James Gent, who curated the anthology in collaboration with writer Jon Arnold, a regular contributor to Obverse Books' The Black Archive range.
As with the previous edition, all profits from this book go toward supporting the work of Cancer Research UK.

An astonishing 25 photographers from around the world have contributed to this celebration. Their images are accompanied by personal essays and reflections about working with this astonishing artist. From memories of the earliest days at the Arts Lab in Beckenham to what it was like touring the world with Bowie, each contributor shares their experiences of working with and knowing this most extraordinary figure.
From portraits and album covers, performances and rehearsals, to rarely seen private moments and candid snapshots, this collection is at once powerful, sentimental and inspiring. The thoughts and reminiscences of the photographers, many sharing their memories for the first time, give us an insight into this artist unlike any other.

Released next week on Friday 7th August is DAVID BOWIE - THE TELEVISION GENERATION DVD.
Description: This DVD selection contains 24 performances of David Bowie On The Box , whereby everyone's all-time favourite show-off comes across doing perfectly what he always did so well. David Bowie's many television performances during his early career, allowed the public at large to witness what was going down, and in turn made the great man the universal superstar he became. Never afraid to use his image to sell his art, Bowie nevertheless always kept a sense of humour in how he presented things and never took himself too seriously, which was part of his huge attraction.

Check out the very first YOU CAN'T UNHEAR THIS interview with ROBIN MAYHEW, a life-long musician whose early days in a forgotten band called The Presidents led him to cross paths with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Who whilst playing in clubs in England in the early 1960s.
Following a brief stint in South Africa, he returned home to England and fell into a new career in the music industry as the live sound engineer for Tucky Buzzard, DAVID BOWIE, Lou Reed, David Essex and many other influential acts of the 1970s.
Update: All Bowie releases are out later this month on the first of the three rescheduled RSD dates on 29th August, apart from OST: The Turning - The Turning: Kate's Diary which is released on 24th October.
Record Store Day 2020 has now been further postponed worldwide and now takes place on three different dates: 29th August, 26th September and 24th October due to the safety of the general public.
RSD 2020 sees the release of previously unissued live 1974 recordings of DAVID BOWIE entitled: I'M ONLY DANCING (THE SOUL TOUR 74) on 2 LP Vinyl and 2 CD formats released for RECORD STORE DAY 2020 on 20th June.
In addition to the previously announced Record Store Day 2020 release of CHANGESNOWBOWIE, Parlophone Records are proud to also announce the unearthing of never before heard recordings of David Bowie in concert in 1974 in the form of I'M ONLY DANCING (THE SOUL TOUR 74) on 2 LP and 2 CD.
Taken from recently discovered sources in The David Bowie Archive®, I'M ONLY DANCING (THE SOUL TOUR 74) was recorded mostly during David's performance at the Michigan Palace, Detroit on 20th October 1974, with the encores taken from the Municipal Auditorium, Nashville on 30th November 1974. The only song missing from the full set on the 20th October performance is 'Diamond Dogs' which was unfortunately only recorded in part. To make up for that it was decided to include the encores from the 30th November performance which featured 'Diamond Dogs' but also enables a fuller representation of the set from The Soul Tour including such numbers as 'Knock On Wood' and the 'Foot Stomping' / 'I Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister Kate' medley.
The Soul Tour was a radical departure from the first part of the 1974 Diamond Dogs theatrical extravaganza. During a three week break in late 1974, the Diamond Dogs Tour's elaborate six-ton Hunger City stage set was drastically stripped back, and the tour's set list overhauled to include as-yet-unreleased tracks from the Young Americans sessions at Sigma Sound in Philadelphia. The Soul Tour also featured a revamped band, augmented to include musicians and vocalists from those sessions, and rechristened The Mike Garson Band.
I'M ONLY DANCING (THE SOUL TOUR 74) follows on from the previous Record Store Day 2 LP release Cracked Actor (Live Los Angeles '74) and is an incredible historical document of a performer and band at the height of their live powers. The artwork for both the 2 LP and 2 CD releases is based on the original design for the programmes available at venues for dates on The Soul Tour. The Soul Tour has taken on a mythical status among Bowie fans, as the tour visited fewer than twenty cities in the East and South of US. This is the first time that audio from this incarnation of the tour has ever been officially released.
