Released today is BOWIE: GLASTONBURY 2000 with FOUR different formats available: [2CD] / [2CD plus 1DVD Box Set] and [3LP Vinyl] and digital releases.
"Not only the greatest Glastonbury headline performance but the best headline slot at any festival ever" NME.
All formats feature Life On Mars?, Changes, Let's Dance, Under Pressure, "Heroes", Fame, China Girl, Ashes To Ashes, Ziggy Stardust, Rebel Rebel, Station To Station, Golden Years, Absolute Beginners and many more.
2nd OCTOBER 2018 - LONDON: Parlophone Records in association with BBC Studios and Glastonbury Festivals Ltd. are proud to announce DAVID BOWIE 'GLASTONBURY 2000' on 2CD/DVD, 3LP, 2CD and standard and high resolution digital formats documenting Bowie's legendary Sunday night headline performance on 25th June at the most famous festival on earth.
The package includes the full 21 song greatest hits set and for the first time, a DVD of the entire show (only 37 minutes of which has ever been broadcast on TV) including the Glastonbury performance of "Heroes", a highlight of the record breaking 'David Bowie Is...' exhibition and the only track that has been previously released.
All formats feature David's diary, originally written for Time Out, which documents him preparing for the show in his own inimitable manner:
"As of 1990 I got through the rest of the 20th century without having to do a big hits show. Yes, yes, I know I did four or five hits on the later shows but I held out pretty well I thought... big, well known songs will litter the field at Glastonbury this year. Well, with a couple of quirks of course."
In addition to newly mastered audio and upgraded video DAVID BOWIE 'GLASTONBURY 2000' features new artwork from Jonathan Barnbrook (who worked with Bowie on the sleeves for Heathen, The Next Day and ★) and notes from the renowned author and Bowie fan Caitlin Moran who reviewed the show for The Times.
The package features photos of Bowie resplendently dressed in a 3/4 length one-of-a-kind Alexander McQueen frock coat, the pattern of which was made to echo the hat (the famous 'bipperty-bopperty hat' mentioned in the song Queen Bitch) and worn by David at his Glastonbury Fayre debut in 1971.
Glastonbury co-organiser Emily Eavis commented "I often get asked what the best set I've seen here at Glastonbury is, and Bowie's 2000 performance is always one which I think of first. It was spellbinding; he had an absolutely enormous crowd transfixed. I think Bowie had a very deep relationship with Worthy Farm and he told some wonderful stories about his first time at the Festival in 1971, when he stayed at the farmhouse and performed at 6am as the sun was rising. And he just played the perfect headline set. It really was a very special and emotional show."
Emily's father Michael, the founder of the festival who first met David at Glastonbury in 1971 said "He's one of the three greatest of all-time: Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and David Bowie."

The DAVID BOWIE Trident master tape featuring takes of 'Fill Your Heart' and 'Changes' recorded in July 1971 realised £17,000 at Omega Auctions today.
Description: DAVID BOWIE UNRELEASED TRACK MASTER TAPE. A boxed reel of 2" Scotch tape, with Trident Studios labels on box indicating that the contents of tape include a 30th July 1971 recording session at Trident, with David Bowie listed as a producer for recordings of 'Fill Your Heart' and 'Changes'. The tape is an incredible listening experience and includes the solo recordings of the instruments and Bowie's vocals on the 16 audio channels which culminates in 5 takes of 'Changes' and 3 takes of 'Fill Your Heart'.
There are 4 instrumental takes of 'Changes' with Bowie stopping recording and speaking to musicians and engineers inbetween takes. His explanations as to how he would like it played are fascinating and he was obviously in good spirits with quips such as "Good Luck Chaps!" prior to counting down the start. At one point he also loses a little patience being heard saying "Do another one!" followed by swearing at the response of one of the musicians/engineers.
When listening to his vocal solos for both 'Changes' and 'Fill Your Heart' he can be heard breathing softly and humming tunes before breaking into the vocals. The sound quality is that good that it almost feels like you are there in the studio with him.
Much of this tape contains previously unheard recordings of two significant Bowie tracks making it an incredible opportunity for a Bowie fan and collector to hear this amazing recording.
The tape has been professionally transferred to digital and a USB data stick with the recording on will be provided with the lot.
A detailed history of the provenance of the tape has been provided courtesy of the vendor. What follows is an abridged account, recounted by the vendor:
"In the 1970s Bowie's management rented a studio in what Brian Eno describes as "palatial Gunter Grove in Chelsea". Bryan Wharton, internationally renowned photo journalist and award-winning photographer, was a neighbour in an adjacent unit at Gunter Studios and remembers, "They were there for about six years." He remembers that when they vacated the offices in the late 70s that there were skip loads of stuff left behind. Tania had been visiting Bryan at Gunter studios since 1968 when she met him as a 17-year-old actress wannabe. She had a white convertible but only a provisional licence and Bryan was one of the friends she would call on to sit with her when she wanted to go for a drive. Their friendship with the L-plate chaperone endured even after she passed her test and, over a decade later, in 1981, Bryan introduced her to his new neighbour Mike Norris, a photographer who had recently bought the old Church hall, the largest of the studios.
Within 18 months, Bryan was the Best Man at Mike and Tania's wedding in the Boltons. By 1985, the couple also had a weekend cottage in Wiltshire and Tania was spending more and more time there with their young children. One weekend, Mike arrived with a battered carrier bag and handed it to Tania. "Inside was this old box containing a Bowie master tape. I had no idea what to do with it so I put it in an un-used cupboard with my mother's mink." "He had found it in Gunter Hall when he moved in, covered in plaster dust and cobwebs at the back of an alcove piled with junk from the previous owner," said Tania. "He was not somebody in the bit of giving me anything valuable! I didn't quite know what to do with this strange gift and assumed it was another of his white elephants and had little value." "But I kept hold of it through various house moves and it's been under my bed for years now. It was only when I read a recent article in The Guardian about another discovered recording of Bowie's that I realised I might be sleeping on a gold nugget!"
**Please note that the tape and its contents are being sold as an artefact only. No copyright is included with the sale and any reproduction of the material is strictly forbidden under UK Copyright Law.**

The first details of the DAVID BOWIE DUBLIN FESTIVAL 2019 have been revealed via HOTPRESS.
The annual Dublin Bowie Festival returns for its fourth edition from Monday January 7th until Sunday January 13th and again, fans of the legendary singer are in for a treat with the week-long event set to celebrate 50 years of Space Oddity and the greatest Starman of our time.
Kicking off the festival on Monday 7th January is a real treat for Bowiephiles; a world premiere exclusive Festival performance of the Space Oddity album from start to finish (and other songs from the Bowie Universe) by the I Heart Bowie ensemble alongside the renowned Trinity Orchestra and some very special guest singers in the hallowed National Concert Hall.
The festival is also associating with MCD as they host the Irish performance of A Bowie Celebration in The Olympia Theatre, Wednesday 9th January. Comprising 5 key members of Bowie's band over his long career - Mark Plati, Carmine Rojas, Earl Slick, Dubliner Gerry Leonard and Bowie's longest serving sidekick, pianist Mike Garson - A Bowie Celebration bring an unforgettable and critically acclaimed evening of Bowie songs with world-class vocalists and an ever rotating mix of hits and deep cuts. Gerry was our first guest of honour at DBF 16 and his continual championing of the Festival and background help is always much appreciated.
The festival will also have The Lighthouse Cinema involved again and their Bowie related programme ticks all the boxes as Space lovers can enjoy seeing Bowie's cult sci-fi classic The Man Who Fell To Earth and the movie that inspired Bowie to introduce Major Tom to the universe, Stanley Kubrick's 2001 - A Space Odyssey. We're particularly pleased that they are also screening Moon, the superb debut feature film of one Duncan Jones, Bowie's son. For family fun it's hard to beat the 80s musical fantasy Labyrinth and its noon screening on Saturday 12th kicks off a family friendly day of activities in Smithfield Square that includes talks, workshops and experiments as we engage our inner scientist while gazing up at the stars from inside a Mobile Planetarium looking at The View from Major Tom's Tin Can.
Last year's festival featured in excess of 8,000 with Bowie fans travelling from as far as Australia, the U.S. and continental Europe and the UK to attend, along with thousands of Bowie lovers from all over Ireland. We are delighted to have the support of Dublin City Council and Visit Dublin for DBF 19 and are extremely grateful of the continued backing and expertise that they bring to the Festival.
More exciting events and ticket details will also be revealed at the launch. For further details check out dublinbowiefestival.ie

Published today is the standard hardback edition of RICOCHET: DAVID BOWIE 1983 by photographer DENIS O'REGAN.
If like me, you can't afford the £3,000 special collectors' limited edition, you can now purchase the alternative hardcover edition.
From the Inside Flap: A breathtaking, never-before-seen glimpse into life on tour with David Bowie, by the late singer's official tour photographer In 1983 David Bowie set out on the Serious Moonlight Tour, his biggest ever. On the road with him was his official photographer, Denis O'Regan. Few artists and photographers have had such a close touring relationship. This book is the result: a never-before-seen photographic portrait of a year with Bowie, from the theatre of performance to his most unguarded moments. Introduced by O'Regan and with every single image personally approved by Bowie, this is an intimate view of an icon at the height of his fame.
Synopsis: In 1990, on their third world tour together, photographer Denis O'Regan told David Bowie what inspired him to take up rock photography. 'It's because of you,' said Denis. He was inspired by Bowie's 1973 Ziggy Stardust concert at the Hammersmith Odeon. Bowie's response: 'Nah, you'll probably tell Bono the same thing tomorrow night.'
In Ricochet: Bowie 1983, the official photographer of one of the most celebrated musicians of all time reveals intimate stories and pictures that offer an exclusive insight into David Bowie the man and musician. Taken on the 'Serious Moonlight Tour' - Bowie's largest ever tour that took in 98 concerts in over 60 cities - Denis's photos provide a thrilling, intimate view of life on the road with a unique pop icon. From capturing the theatre and mime of Bowie on stage to unguarded snapshots of the artist at his most human, every single image in Ricochet was personally approved by Bowie himself, and the result is a music photography book like no other.
Witty, poignant, and beautifully produced, Ricochet is a rare and spirited look into the life of an inimitable artist, whose music and performances have inspired - and continue to inspire - generations of listeners around the world.

Released on DVD this month on 19th November is THE KENNY EVERETT VIDEO SHOW box set.
This complete SIX disc set runs for 935 minutes (15-and-a-half hours) and features all four series with every episode, including the three New Year specials.
DAVID BOWIE first appeared on the show (Series 2: Episode 9) performing a live version of 'Boys Keep Swinging' on 23rd April 1979.
Bowie also appeared in the one-hour long New Year's Eve Special (Will Kenny Everett Make It To 1980?) in 1979, performing an acoustic version of 'Space Oddity' along with a funny sketch featuring 'Angry Of Mayfair' (see promo trailer below).
Erupting onto television during the summer of '78, The Kenny Everett Video Show was an instant ratings grabber propelling the subversive, impish DJ to the superstardom he had always deserved!
Kenny's anarchic mix of manic sketches, musical guests and dance routines courtesy of raunchy booty-shakers Hot Gossip created must-see television, his comic genius running riot as he unleashed a line-up of much-loved, much-mimicked characters including gobby rocker Sid Snot, Gallic sophisticate Marcel Wave and the improbably-handed evangelist, Brother Lee Love!
The shows - written by Kenny Everett with Barry Cryer and Ray Cameron (father of Michael McIntyre) - followed Everett's controversial career on radio that spanned the likes of pirate station Radio London, BBC Radio 1 and Capital Radio.
Available for the first time, this set contains all four series and three New Year specials that Kenny made for Thames Television and there's one thing you can be certain of - that it's all done in the best possible taste!
You can pre-order The Kenny Everett Video Show [DVD] NOW!
