On this day, 54 years ago, DAVID BOWIE performed at the London Palladium as part of the Save Rave 1969 charity event.
David sang two songs: Space Oddity and Wild Eyed Boy From Freecloud.
Also appearing were: Grapefruit, Karen Young, Magna Carta, Marmalade, The Settlers, Clodagh Rodgers, Tiny Tim, The GoJos, Lou Christie, The Graham Bond Initiation, The Equals and Dusty Springfield.
The concert was held annually in order to raise funds for the 'Invalid Children's Aid Association' and was attended by Her Royal Highness The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon and The Earl of Snowdon.

From the legendary Bowie gigs in the early 1970s, through to a poignant image taken outside his apartment in New York in 2016, Kevin Cummins has captured the many faces of Bowie, including previously unpublished material, and created a book that is essential for Bowie fans everywhere.
The career of celebrated pop photographer Kevin Cummins began on 29th June 1973 when as a 19-year-old photography student he photographed David Bowie. That image is now in the renowned photography collection of the V&A Museum.
About the Author:
Manchester-born Kevin Cummins has an international reputation as one of the world's leading photographers and is famed for his iconic portraits of musicians including Ian Curtis, Bowie, The Smiths, Iggy Pop, Bjork, Debbie Harry, Bob Marley, Public Enemy, Patti Smith and Oasis. These photographs have appeared on magazine covers and in galleries and museums worldwide, including: Brooklyn Museum, Sydney Opera House, Pace Gallery, and other cities including New York, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Berlin, London, and Bologna. His work is included in the permanent collections of the National Portrait Gallery, V&A Museum and Manchester City Art Gallery.
Cummins had a 20 year association with British Rock 'bible' NME, where he created many of the best-known images in modern music history. He was awarded an honorary doctorate (arts) by Manchester Metropolitan University in 2015. His monographs for Octopus include Joy Division: Juvenes, Morrissey: Alone and Palely Loitering, Britpop: While We Were Getting High and Telling Stories: Photographs of The Fall.

• On this day, 17 years ago, DAVID BOWIE performed at the 3rd Annual Black Ball Benefit for Keep A Child Alive at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, USA in 2006.
This was to be his last live performance on stage with a band.
David performed three songs: 'Wild Is The Wind' (with Mike Garson on piano), 'Fantastic Voyage' (backed by Alicia Keys' band) and 'Changes' (duet with Alicia Keys).
Hosts Alicia Keys and Iman were joined by KCA founder Leigh Blake, emcee Wanda Sykes and honourees Richard Beckman, Dr. Paul Farmer and Partners in Health, and "Mama" Carol Dyanti.
Other musical performers were Alicia Keys, Damian Marley and Louis XIV.
As far as I'm aware, his performance wasn't professionally filmed and the only filmed footage was shot by Bowie fan Simone. Check out her footage below...

The SCARLETT JOHANSSON album 'Anywhere I Lay My Head', first released in 2008 - featuring guest appearances by David Bowie on two tracks - gets a RSD Black Friday 2023 exclusive release.
Anywhere I Lay My Head is released on Asbestos Records, limited to 2,000 copies, on green 150 gram vinyl, printed insert and single-pocket jacket.

Anywhere I Lay My Head is the debut studio album by American actress and singer Scarlett Johansson, released on 16th May 2008 by Atco Records. She recorded it over five weeks in Spring 2007 at Dockside Studios in Maurice, Louisiana. It was produced by Dave Sitek of TV On The Radio and includes collaborations with David Bowie and members of Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Celebration.
It contains four songs by Tom Waits, six songs by Waits and his wife Kathleen Brennan, and one original composition, 'Song for Jo'. The album received mixed reviews, and saw moderate commercial success. 'Falling Down' was released as its lead single.
Another Bowie related release is The Warm Covers LP by JD MCPHERSON on New West Records label, in a limited edition release.
In 2014, JD McPherson released The Warm Covers EP on CD and digitally. This EP featured covers of songs by Billy Boy Arnold, Jimmy Hughes, Nick Lowe and Alabama. A diverse set of songs to say the least. In 2022 McPherson digitally released The Warm Covers Vol. 2 featuring covers of songs by DAVID BOWIE, Iggy Pop, Big Al Downing, Broncho, Lou Reed, Art Neville, Naomi Neville and Charles Thompson.
For RSD Black Friday, the two EPs are being put together and pressed on red, white and blue swirl vinyl for the one and only time.
